Sr. Kevina Sinnott R.I.P.
Sr. Kevina (Kathleen) was born to John and Brigid Sinnott on 30th August 1932 at Park Annesley, Ballygarrett, Gorey, Co. Wexford. One of a family of four, she is survived by her sister, Sr. Maire, Loreto Sisters, Cape Town, South Africa, and her brother, Fr. Pat Sinnott, Enniscorthy. She was pre-deceased by her brother William.
She entered St. John of God Novitiate on 6th November 1965, made her First Profession on 8th September 1968 and her Final Profession on 22nd August 1973. She qualified as a Nurse in 1971.
She nursed in many Hospitals, including Maypark Nursing Home, Waterford, New Ross District Hospital, Castlecomer District Hospital and St. John’s Hospital, Enniscorthy, where she spent 12 years.
She retired to Wexford Convent in 1995. In her retirement years she became involved in the Marian Movement for priests and was also involved in the Legion of Mary.
In the places where she nursed, Sr. Kevina endeared herself to many people, through her kindness, understanding and sense of humour, as she had endeared herself to her companions in religious life where she was known affectionately as Kate!
After a brief illness, courageously borne, Kevina departed this life on 3rd February 2009. Her brother, Fr. Pat was the chief celebrant at her Requiem Mass in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Rowe Street, Wexford. Her cousins, Fr. Aidan Jones and Fr. John Sinnott, together with many priests of the Diocese, concelebrated. The congregational singing was led by Fr. James Fegan. Bishop Brennan presided and gave the Final Commendation. Her remains were interred in the Convent Cemetery.
