The spirit of our Congregation is very much that of our Founders, Bishop Thomas Furlong, Sr Visitation Clancy and her companions who received their early formation in the Bon Secours and in turn influenced by our Patron, St. John of God.
Theirs was a discerning responsiveness to God’s call as revealed to them through prayer and in the reality before them. Today, we too respond to the changing patterns and needs of society and the particular demands of time and place where our spirituality ‘is contemplative in attitude and action’ and focused on God’s mission’ (Constitutions 53).
We nurture this relationship through personal and community prayer, contemplation, Eucharist and attentiveness to our faith-view of life. We pray daily for the wider John of God family, for colleagues, associates, benefactors and especially those in any kind of need.
