New Congregational Leader and Team Elected at General Chapter 2007

At their recent General Chapter held in Dromantine Retreat and Conference Centre, Newry, Co. Down, the Sisters of St. John of God elected Sister Brid Ryan to succeed Sister Mary Rowsome as their Congregational Leader for the next six years.

Sister Brid is a native of Murroe, Co. Limerick. She worked in Wexford in the Faythe School and in Our Lady of Fatima Special School. She also taught in Edenderry, Co. Offaly.  More recently she has been doing Community Work and Counselling in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford.

Also on the Leadership Team are Sister Mary Kiely, Sister Grainne McKelvey and Sister Mary Toomey.

Sister Mary Kiely is a native of Owning, Co. Kilkenny. She has spent more than twenty-five years in education, both in Ireland and in Australia. She has also worked as a social worker and pastoral minister in Australia.

Sister Grainne McKelvey is a native of Dublin. She spent fifteen years teaching at Gorey Post-Primary School and is presently working as a counsellor in Edenderry, Co. Offaly.

Sister Mary Toomey is a native of Oola, Co. Limerick. She has spent thirty-five years in Post-Primary Education in Edenderry, Co. Offaly and in Artane, Dublin.

Sister Brid and her Team will take up office on August 20th 2007.
